The Cambridgeshire Autonomous Metro (CAM) will bring high quality, integrated public transport to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Why is it important?

  • Our economy is growing very rapidly, which has created jobs and brought more people to the region
  • There is pressure on existing transport networks
  • We need to connect towns, villages and cities across the region so that people can travel easily to their homes, jobs and leisure
  • We need a solution that is environmentally friendly and sustainble for the future

What difference will it make?

CAM aims to:

  • bring high quality, integrated public transport to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
  • connect towns, villages, major employment sites and the city of Cambridge
  • offer fast, frequent, clean and reliable journeys
  • cut congestion by reducing car use
  • improve the environment and air quality by using zero emission vehicles

What happens next?

The CAM is an ambitious and complex project, so we have created a separate company who will deliver the next stages of the project, One Cam.

One Cam are now working on a programme-wide business case. You can find out more here.

When do I have a say?

One Cam, our company who will be delivering the CAM, will hold consultation events at key points in the project.

We will post links to these events when they are available.

We welcome comments or suggestions at any time: please use our Contact Us form to get in touch with the transport team.
